Who says social media advertising doesn't work? I discovered the amazing Blanc + Nero candles in my Instagram feed and was sold immediately. I splurged on a couple of candles from The Archival Collection, The Nook and Poets Society.
What grabbed me first was the branding, and of course, being made locally here in Queensland. The candles didn't take long to arrive and I was immediately impressed by the quality of packaging and the presentation of the candles themselves. Let me say, very very premium!
Next up, I wasn't entirely sure what to expect from the scents, as a guy, the earthier and darker signature notes appeal strongly, and The Nook didn't let me down. Whilst I couldn't immediately identify the scents from the description, I still wholly enjoy each time I light each of these finely crafted and curated candles.
6 stars if Blanc + Nero can craft the scent of a Victorian study; transporting us with the smell of leather bound books, tobacco leaf, a subtle smokiness from a warm fireplace, a snifter of half drunk fine brandy, mahogany and spices. Perhaps a combination of oakwood, leather, tobacco, caramel, clove, raisins, cinnamon and vetiver would take us all there...

This candle is pure elegance. The soft plum and violet give it a gentle sweetness, while the vintage leather and oakwood add depth and warmth. But it’s the powdered musk that makes it unforgettable—smooth, divine, and completely addictive. It feels like sinking into a leather chair in a hidden library, wrapped in comfort and quiet mystery. I can’t even describe how much I love this, I wish it was a perfume 🖤
The Nook candle is my absolute favourite from the archival collection! Its a beautifully designed candle that smells as good as it looks and is the perfect addition to the library. Its dreamy scent creates the ultimate atmosphere for curling up with a good book!
