Candle Care

There's nothing quite like an exceptionally scented candle that fills a space and creates your desired atmosphere. If you want your candles to last, you need to know how to take care of them. By following our candle care tips, you will ensure the best results are achieved every burn.

Initial Burn: When lighting your soy candle for the first time, allow it to burn until the wax melts all the way to the edges of the container. This prevents tunnelling (where wax remains at the edges) and sets the stage for even burning in the future.

Trimming the Wick: Before each burn, trim the wick to about 6mm. This helps prevent excessive flickering, smoke, or soot and ensures a clean burn. You can use a wick trimmer or scissors for this.

Burn Time: Avoid burning your soy candle for more than 3 hours at a time. Extended burning can cause the container to overheat and potentially crack. It's good practice to extinguish the candle after 2-3 hours, allow it to cool, trim the wick if necessary, and then relight.

Avoid Drafts: Keep your candle away from drafts, which can cause uneven burning, smoking, or soot. This also helps prevent rapid burning and extends the life of your candle.

Extinguishing Safely: Use a snuffer or gently blow out the flame to extinguish the candle instead of blowing directly on it, which can cause wax to splatter. This helps maintain the integrity of the wax and prevents soot buildup.

Storing Properly: When not in use, store your soy candle in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources. This prevents the wax from melting or discolouring prematurely.

Reusing or Recycling: Once your soy candle has burned down, consider reusing the container for other purposes or recycling it according to local guidelines.

By following these steps, you can maximise the burn time and enjoyment of your soy candle while ensuring safe and efficient use.
